  • Common technical SEO issues
  • And more!

Let’s dive in:

1. A Q&A about pricing your work and working with brands and clients! 💰

You’re invited! We’re holding a Q&A about pricing your work next Thursday, October 5 at 1pm ET / 12pm CT, and we’d love to see you there!

  • Access to the replay

Click here to purchase and tune in on October 5!

2. Two Google updates! 📈

Remember when we chatted about a Google Core Update in last month’s Blogging Newsletter? Well it finished up this month, and you can read a bit more about it in this article from Search Engine Journal.

Core updates are big algorithm changes to Google search, and you can find more details of how this core update affected sites across the web (in general) here.

Google also released a helpful content update this month in pursuit of highlighting supremely helpful, thorough reader-first content for searchers. You can find a good recap of what these helpful content updates do and why they’re important here.

If you found that your site was negatively impacted by either of these updates, Google has a guide with questions to ask yourself that may help you discover potential opportunities for improving your content.

We also have a course for Food Blogger Pro members all about what to do when you experience changes in search traffic. Learn more about it here!

3. Are you ready for Q4? ✨

Q4, aka the last three months of the year, is a crucial time for food bloggers.

Recipe searches (hello, holiday eats!) and ad spend (three cheers for more display ad revenue!) are up, so many food bloggers work to maximize their content and monetization strategies during this time of year.

Want some guidance to help you rock this Q4? Here are some resources:

From adjusting your content strategy to pitching yourself to brands to sharing more on Pinterest, there are so many different ways you can make the most of this season as a content creator.
  • 274: Q&A – How Food Bloggers Can Make the Most Out of Q4 –– This is a replay of a member-Q&A we held in 2020, but it’s still full of helpful, actionable advice for food bloggers looking to maximize their Q4. In this conversation, Bjork and Pinch of Yum’s General Manager, Jenna, answer questions about preparing for this time of year.

4. Common technical SEO issues. 🤖

Technical SEO refers to all of the techy things about your website that aren’t content-related but do impact your site’s overall health.

Some examples are:

  • Having a sitemap
  • Having an easy-to-maneuver site architecture
  • Using https
  • Using alt text
  • Page speed

Ahrefs published a study looking at over 1 million websites to discover the most common technical SEO issues that impact sites across the world wide web.

In the article, you’ll learn about these issues and a way to prioritize any fixes that might need attention.

Find the full recap here.

And that’s a wrap for this month’s Blogging Newsletter from your friends at Food Blogger Pro. 😊

We hope you have a great start to your Q4!
